Where does a business owner start when social media is rapidly changing daily with Twitter, Facebook and even Linked In? Social media is a must for any business owner, yet can be intimidating. It’s not uncommon for business owners to open a social media account and then let it sit idle because they don’t know where to start. They don’t know how to use these accounts to benefit their business.
The key to social media is building relationships. It’s about engaging others, building messages, building branding and even building business. Fear no more and get your mind in the game with these tips:

  • Top Tips: Useful suggestions and advice that your audience will find useful.
  • Step-by-Step: Video or written instructions for something which your audience needs help.
  • Tools and Resources: Useful applications, forms, documents, and other tools developed for your industry that will be a valuable assets.
  • Testimonials from Happy Customers: Written and video testimonials or case studies showcasing how the book is helping people succeed using social media.
  • Comments on News: Comments on new organizational developments, linking to the related press releases.
  • Interview Experts: Featuring expertise and answers shared by other industry specialists.
  • Distributor Discussions: Attracting new distributors and showcasing in multiple market segments.
  • Evergreen Content: Evergreen content is content that is unlikely to change over a period of at least a few weeks, months, or even years. A fact from your industry, a piece of trivia about the history of your organization, product benefits, or your mission statement, for example, are items that are not going to change in the very near future and may be of interest to your followers. For example, an event that is happening next week would not be considered evergreen content. Why? Because the information will perish on the date of the event.
  • Stats, Trends, and Interesting Facts: Providing insightful and interesting research, numbers, facts, and trends on your industry.
  • Behind the Scenes: Providing information on inside happenings and profiles on new and existing staff. You will be shown how to make it fun for customers to know you.
  • Event Announcements and Reports: Everyone announces their events, but folks often forget about the ample content that can be produced during and after the event. Have someone on staff take notes during the events and create blogs from the happenings and experiences.
  • Surveys: Survey your friends and followers to find out what they want.
  • Positive Exclamations and Affirmations: Posts such as these, go a long way for creating a positive environment for everyone who follows you, creating more opportunities for engagement:
